Where Do You Put Your Gold Records?
Where Do You Put Your Gold Records?

Last night Meredith walked through the front door of our house with the coolest thing anyone has ever walked through the front door of our house...with. Finally all of Meredith’s hard work in the movie industry, her years of blood, sweat and tears has finally paid off by her winning the most coveted prize in all of movies. No, she didn’t win an Oscar or a Golden Globe. She won a gold record!
Okay, maybe gold records have nothing to do with the movie industry, but in some strange way that’s what makes it that much more exciting. You see, Meredith was awarded this gold record because of her role as a producer on the teen dance movie Step Up. The soundtrack to the movie went gold, having sold more than 500,000 copies, so simply put, she got hers (that’s how they talk in the music business).
Anyway, as cool as it is that Meredith has this, it does raise a slight concern at our house. Where the hell do we put it? Needless to say, there really isn’t a spot on any one wall in our house that has been screaming for a gold record to be hung there. Gold records, and I guess platinum records too, don’t really fit into our whole classic yet contemporary decorating style.
The easy answer is that she bring it back to her office and hang it there. But we aren’t ones to take the easy road. No sir! I want to be able to walk people through the house and say “this is the office nook, over here is the kitchen, that’s where Pete sleeps, and oh, that’s Meredith’s gold record.”
So, until we find an official display location for our newest bundle of joy, it is going to just sit on the floor by the front door, leaning kind of sadly up against the wall. Hey, where do you guys hang your gold records?
